Woodcarving On the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month beginning at 9:30 a.m. in Room 117 (the Youth Commons), Bob Watt will hold a beginners class for anyone interested in learning basic woodcarving skills. Call Bob Watt (966-1408) for further information about the class itself. These are hands-on classes, so Bob says to BYOB (bring your own band-aids).Wednesday Night Dinners & Programs On Wednesday evenings during the school year, members come together to share a meal, fellowship and learning opportunities. A freshly prepared buffet offers a choice of hot meals, salad bar or children's meal for those who have made advance reservations. Bible studies, topical studies, hands-on activities or entertainment are available on Wednesday nights after dinner. The first Wednesday of the month is usually entertainment, and the other Wednesday evenings provide an option of two or more programs. Dinner lines are open from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m. and programs run from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m. Questions? Contact the church office at 966-6728. Church-wide Picnics In May and September, we gather as a congregation for an afternoon of food and fun. Picnics are usually at The Cove park on Northshore Drive. Fifth Friday Dances Our gymnasium resounds with dance music three or four times a year. You can count on casual dress and a variety of dance styles during this fun evening together. A contribution of $5 covers the cost of food, drink, decorations and door prizes. Golf League Open to all golfers. Meets Mondays at 5:30 p.m. from the first of May to the end of September at Dead Horse Lake Golf Course on Sherrill Blvd. Cost: $25 league fee plus a weekly greens fee. Contact: Alan Seagraves Golf Tournament Our Habitat for Humanity home-building project benefits from this annual event that Concord United Methodist Men sponsor on the third Monday of August. Salt Shakers Salt Shakers is an opportunity to meet others associated with Concord UMC in an informal setting, usually away from the church building , usually involving a meal. New members, "old" members and prospective members of all ages-couples and singles-are welcome to join for as many of the sessions as you choose. Salt Shaker groups are "shaken up" (groups members are rotated) after each 4 month session (September - December and February - May). A Salt Shaker group consists of 7 - 9 people. Each group chooses the date, time and format for its get-togethers. Registration for the groups are in January and August of each year. Are you searching for spiritual growth and renewal? Do you need time to slow down and look to God’s word for guidance in your busy Mom’s world? The Concord UMC Moms' Group is the place for you! We meet for 2 hours each Friday morning during the school year. After fellowship and snacks, we focus on Bible study that relates to our lives as mothers, wives, and women, concluding with time for sharing concerns and prayer.
