Habitat for Humanity

In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, Concord United Methodist Church members have built eight houses since 1999. Each year, the United Methodist Men host a golf tournament in August to raise money to help pay for the cost of sponsoring our Habitat home for the following year.

If you want to participate in this worthwhile ministry, please register by contacting Jack Taylor at 966-6548.

United Methodist Women

Concord United Methodist Women began in 1913 and continues to this day to be a significant part of the life of this church. The purpose of the United Methodist Women is to be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Our unit meets quarterly with day and evening meeting times to provide opportunities for varying schedules and lifestyles. Six sub-groups called ‘circles’ meet monthly with activities and programs focusing on their individual passions:

Lydia Circle First Monday 12:30 p.m.
Rebecca Circle First Tuesday 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday Night Circle Second Wednesday 6:30 p.m.
Mary Martha Circle Third Tuesday 7:00 p.m.
Deborah Circle Mondays TBA 7:00 p.m.
Susanna Wesley Circle Fourth Wednesday 10:00 a.m.

Other activities include a formal tea, spiritual weekends off-site, and an all-women event preparing for Advent. Fundraisers to help continue our mission work include semi-annual Children’s Clothing Sales, pecan sales, and a breakfast with Santa.

United Methodist Men

Since 1967 our Methodist Men fellowship has been an active element in the life of CUMC. We offer varied opportunities for Christian Fellowship to the men of our church including events such as a monthly breakfast meeting, special seasonal events that include our families such as the Valentine's Dinner and the summer ice cream social, continuing sponsorship and financial support of the CUMC Boy Scout Program and financial giving to the CUMC good Samaritan fund.

United Methodist Men also participate at the conference/district level by working two days each year to help maintain CUMC facilities, and sponsorship of the CUMC Volunteer Service Program, an effort providing help to senior members of CUMC.

For more information about being part of this fellowship, contact the church office at 865-966-6728.

The Holston Conference Men's Annual Gathering (August 15-16, 2008)
